smooth running 6.10 site is down after upgrading to 6.11
Hello,
I probably should have waited to update to 6.11...as I have a leukemia fund raiser for a local kid tomorrow morning and folks need to see my site for weather updates...anyway...
I did a straight update to 6.11 and site is now down:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function user_access() in /hermes/web07/b2314/pow.everydaypeco/htdocs/epe2009drupal/includes/menu.inc on line 449
I did panic a bit...after initial crash...I deleted the module folder "lightbox2" on my server as I read that it may be causing a compatibility issue...when that did not work...I tried to revert back to 6.10, by re uploading the 6.10 files...but nothing has changed.
I believe that this is an easy fix for a knowledgeable drupal user...which I am not...any help would be excellent...willing to pay or donate in return.

Grimnir commentedI had the same problem on one of my sites which is hosted on GoDaddy.
I found that by uncommenting the line "# RewriteBase /" in the .htaccess file, it fixed the problem.
I hope this works for you.

jkkcolburn commentedThanks for getting back to me...
unfortunately...I do not think I fully understand how to do what you have suggested...but I will try ...

Grimnir commentedHi,
Open the .htaccess file in a text editor, locate the line
# RewriteBase /
(should be around line 101) and remove the # from the beginning of the line.
Then repost that file to the root of you drupal install

jkkcolburn commentedagain...thanks for helping me...
I deleted the character...but still no luck...
hmm...
jkkcolburn commentedwhat program do you use to look at the htaccess file...I am using wordpad...and it does not show the line numbers at all...
vm commentedline numbers aren't important, simply CTRL-F and put in # RewriteBase / that will take you to the proper place.
however if you want a decent free editor that does produce line numbers investigate notepad ++ ,http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm
an easy way to get your site back up, is to go back to the back up you took before you updated your site. ex: just updating the files, won't be enough if you ran update.php as you would have had to have a backup of your database. Essentially the most important part of any database driven site.
I've updated 6 sites to 6.11 without issue, I don't believe this to be a bug and may be best to be further discussed in the forums.

jkkcolburn commentedthanks for helping me...
I forgot to back up my db...
thanks for notepadd++
I did not realize I was posting in the wrong area...I will try to find the correct forums...but I always use these ones...
Thanks for understanding that I am trying to learn, but may seem stupid...
I feel like you are knowledgeable...any chance you could help me fix this? Or point me to a 3rd party that could?

vm commentedI am not experienced with the error, I've never seen it.
Did you run update.php?
If so, did you get any errors when running update.php?
Have you tried to clear the database base cache tables?
This is not a forum but an issue queue, the upgrading forum is: http://drupal.org/forum/21
When starting this thread, it was request at the top of the form that you provide:
It's not that you are posting in the wrong place, I'm directing you to the forums where you may get more eyes on the thread.
side note: NEVER, do anything to your production site without first having a working backup of your database. Not following this best practice has has put more users in a position to have to rebuild their site than not following any other best practice.
jkkcolburn commentedhow do you clear the database cache?
I would appreciate any help you are willing to provide...

vm commentedresearching the error some = http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=drupal+Call+to+undefined+function+u...
the error could be caused by drupal not having all the files necessary uploaded. Or a corrupted file that was uploaded. I'd deleted all files and folders except the sites/folder
I'd reupload all files from a new download.
clearing cache tables is done with phpmyadmin or similar tool in your hosts admin panel. find all tables marked cache_ or _cache checkmark them, adjust the dropdown to Empty, click go.
However, based on your responses I don't suggest touching the database without a backup. Focus on the files first. After reuploading all files again, and the problem is still there .... check out a few more threads that I've linked to in the google search.

jkkcolburn commentedoh man...did not work...
this really can not be that hard...but I probably need to hire a guru.com person to fix this.
Any ideas on what I should do next? I am very clear on what not to do next time...but I now have to get site up...

vm commentednope, I myself am out of ideas. As previously stated a forum thread in the upgrade forum may get more eyes on it.
when you do so, it may be of benefit to list "all" modules that are enabled on the site and link to this issue in the thread you place.
