Untie Drupal from jquery

Not sure if this is the right place. I AM a jquery fanboy, but there are many other good javascript frameworks. Is it not better to untie jquery from the drupal drupal core?

I'm not sure if it is easy, but I think it should be possible to deliver Drupal with Wrappers instead of a strong relationship to one javascript framework. Even if only one wrapper would be delivered (the jquery one) a good documentation could be used to build others as custom contributions. ExtJs, Prototype, Mootopols, Dojo could be used that way.

Developers tend to have it's favorites also in the javascript framework world. So why not let them the choice?
