what menu is hook_menu_item and theme_menu_tree building [#384790]

I'm working on a module that will allow to specify a class and a picture to the menus and at is not specific to a theme. but when I'm in the mytheme_menu_item or mytheme_menu_tree functions I don't know the name of the menu i'm working on, nor something that will identify the menu name.

Do you know what can I do to get to it?

for example in the mytheme_menu_item_link the $link[menu_name] contains the name, but i don't see anything on the argument of the other theme hooks that would do the trick.

any ideas?

Try installing the Devel module. You will be able to look at all the variables that are available to the theme.

Please post back how that works out for you.

I did install the devel module but it messes up my menus when enabling the developer theme, So I can' see what variables are set, i can see for other menus but nothing pops out as telling me which menu is being built at the time of the menu_Tree.
