I've got two fresh Drupal 6.9 installs (php 5.2.1 and a Site5 host), and I want to allow anonymous users to create a specific content type. I have given them access to content and access to create that type and edit their own content of that type.
Anonymous users seem to be able to create content but when they hit "submit" it returns a Page Not Found error and the entire site gets funky. One of the drupal installs has no contributed modules, the other only Views and VotingAPI.
It appears that Drupal is designed to let anonymous users create content, so why can't they do so without crashing the site?
Thanks.

cgjohnson commentedI just created a drupal 5 site and this feature works fine -- so it does appear to be a bug in D6.

JThan commentedHello.
I couldnt believe that so I tested it. New Drupal Installation, giving the Guest rights to create an Article. Works.
There is no Bug. I think theres something in your "specific content type" which leads to he error.

ainigma32 commentedThis sounds like it could be a clean urls issue. Do you have clean urls enabled? And maybe also a value in $base_url in settings.php?

ainigma32 commentedLooks like cgjohnson won't be posting any feedback so I'm setting this to fixed.
Feel free to reopen if you think that is wrong.

maijs commentedcgjohnson,
I'm not sure it's really a Drupal bug and causes of this (see the situation below) but there is an easy workaround:
You have to manually access the database and check the UID of anonymous user in Users table (it's the one with blank name, pass and email). If it's not 0 then you get the results you described - Page not found after clicking Submit button.
Just change UID to 0 and your done. Anonymous users can create content you allow them.

chif commentedI've got same problem, thanks for workaround. But i think it's not supposed behavior.

stevebab commentedWow. that saved my butt @maijs. I have been going around and around every other table in the DB, it seems. Wonder how I lost user 0 !
Thanks a ton for this post. Literally saved a very large project from starting over from scratch. If you're ever in San Diego, I'll buy you a burrito!
