Problem/Motivation
Our test suite runs component unit tests with code coverage on using the PHPUnit CLI, but core unit tests, being run by run-tests.sh that decomposes the test run into multiple subprocesses, are not.
This means that core unit tests, not being checked for code coverage setup correctness, currently have several warnings that go undetected.
Steps to reproduce
Run XDEBUG_MODE=coverage vendor/bin/phpunit -c core --testsuite unit --colors=always --fail-on-deprecation --fail-on-phpunit-deprecation --coverage-text=coverage.txt, wait a lot, and see the warnings.
Proposed resolution
Introduce a (daily?) job to execute core unit tests with code coverage on.
Wait for PHPUnit 13.5 to introduce native parallelization and try that to see if we can reduce the running time.
