Repeatable: Always
Steps to repeat:
1. Get access to a web server with a domain in .info zone. E.g. example.info
2. Download drupal 6.8 and unpack it into web server's document root
3. Point your browser to the base URL of the server: (http://example.info/)
Expected Results:
First page ("Choose language") of drupal installer should appear.
Actual Results:
Server denies the request:
---
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Apache/1.3.41 Server at example.info Port 80
---
However, visiting http://example.info/index.php works fine.
It seems that the reason is in the drupal's .htaccess file.
It contains the following line:
<FilesMatch "\.(engine|inc|info|install|module|profile|test|po|sh|.*sql|theme|tpl(\.php)?|xtmpl|svn-base)$|^(code-style\.pl|Entries.*|Repository|Root|Tag|Template|all-wcprops|entries|format)$">
It should block access to files with .info extension. E.g. http://server/path/file.info
However, it also blocks URLs like: http://example.info/

damien tournoud commentedIt looks like an Apache bug and have been reported by others. On what hosting is this website?
damien tournoud commentedOk... thinking about it I guess the filesystem folder in which you website is hosted ends in ".info", too.
We should switch from "FileMatch" to "LocationMatch", and the issue should go away.
damien tournoud commentedCleaning up the issue queue, this is a duplicate of #120597: .info domains access denied.
