Problem/Motivation

After you install the Telephone module, no telephone field appears until you run cache rebuild. This is confusing for new site builders who may not know to clear the cache.

Steps to reproduce

Install the Telephone module, attempt to add a telephone field to a content type.

Proposed resolution

Add a cache rebuild to Telephone install, or more specific cache clear so that the field is available after install without a manual cache clear.

Was this repeatable at the time? I have tested on a few sites and a clean install and the field was available.

Steps:

  1. Go to /admin/modules and enable Telephone
  2. Go to Structure > Content > Articles > Manage fields
  3. Click Add field
  4. Telephone number is available as an option

Thanks for reporting this issue. We rely on issue reports like this one to resolve bugs and improve Drupal core.

As part of the Bug Smash Initiative, we are triaging issues that are marked "Postponed (maintainer needs more info)". This issue was marked "Postponed (maintainer needs more info)" more than a year ago.

Like @pameeela, I also was unable to reproduce the issue with the following steps:

  1. Enable telephone module
  2. Add telephone field to content type
  3. Add content with telephone field filled in
  4. Result: Everything worked as expected

Since neither I nor @pameeela could reproduce this issue and since there weren't other steps to reproduce the issue provided since the issue was postponed more than a year ago, I'm marking the issue "Closed (cannot reproduce)". If anyone can provide complete steps to reproduce the issue (starting from "Install Drupal core"), document those steps in the issue summary and set the issue status back to "Active".
