mysqli is the new PHP client to connect to MySQL. It seems you selected to use mysqli when you installed Drupal.
Since it looks like it was working OK I'm pretty sure that you are using mysqli.

The problem that resulted in the warning is that MySQL ran out of memory. See here http://drupal.org/node/340601 for a similar thread.

Please post back your findings.

Looks like edanisko won't be posting any feedback so I'm setting this to fixed.

Feel free to reopen if you think that is wrong.

i am trying to install drupal 6.1. i'm having a problem that it is asking me for a database name, a user and password. i'm assuming it's for mysqli because that is the selected option on the page. the only other option is pgsql. i'm new to web-site building. can you tell me why is it asking me for the database name and such? if it's a valid question, what do i put in?

mwease - did you find the answers to your question? Please let me know and I'll help if you need it.

i found an answer a while back. then, i deleted everything because i was going to hire someone else. now, i find that they want WAY too much money, so i'm back trying to learn everything and i am once again back at the same point and cannot remember the answer to my question...

help would be greatly appreciated. i need lots of it.

@mwease, did you create a database on your web host acct? If not, log in to your web admin account (not Drupal), create a database and user. Look for MySQL or PHPMyAdmin. Create the database, user and set a password. Then you can then begin to install Drupal which will ask you for this info.

Is this helpful or are you having a different issue?

TrinitySEM:

i did something like you suggested regarding mysql and possibly PHPMyAdmin and it apparently worked. i'm in.

i just now noticed that you had responded to my question back in april when i first had the problem. i have to assume that i did it the same way then.

i appreciate your responses. i didn't realize that i would have to search for my own entries to see if anyone had responded. i expected an email or some kind of notification that someone responded.

since you are so helpful, are you for hire?

Sorry for the delay in responding. The lack of email (or other form) of notification on drupal.org is challenging sometimes when you forget to look back at your current issues. In the future you can click on "My Account" on the top, right menu. You can then select the "Track" tab and you'll be presented with the threads you are following and any updates that occur. Most recent updates will be at the top.

I'd be happy to help. You can reach me here: http://www.excellira.com/contact
