Problem/Motivation

The Drupal (core) project has an extensive list of components in the Component form select element when creating a new issue. Because the options are not listed alphabetically, it is hard to find the right component.

Proposed resolution

Sort the options alphabetically.

This is something the Drupal core maintainers need to decide/do. Webmasters should not change the Component values without a good reason.

Drupal core is moving towards using a “main” branch. As an interim step, a new 11.x branch has been opened, as Drupal.org infrastructure cannot currently fully support a branch named main. New developments and disruptive changes should now be targeted for the 11.x branch, which currently accepts only minor-version allowed changes. @Xano, thanks for the idea!

This hasn't been worked on in the past 10 years and now Drupal is even closer to moving issues to GitLab. The efforts of the community are now focused on making that transition and things like this aren't likely to get attention. With that in mind I think it is unfair to keep this open, so I am closing as won't fix.
