cannot change user role

i'm running cvs 18/5 and i cannot change roles of users. i don't know if it's a bug or if i have missed something but it doesn't work for sure. perhaps someone can verify...

i have 4 roles setup. 'anonymous user', 'authenticated user', 'authenticated bonus user' and 'authenticated crew'. whatever i try to apply it ends up as 'authenticated user'.
