Well, it would be great to be able to "select" the modules to be installed from a list, or url list, and get them installed. The system could use curl to get the files and put them on the plugin directory.

It should be not so hard for the dev people!

I suggest we don't stay behind in the feature catalog. Joomla has this feature.

I intend my suggestion to be taken as constructively as possible. I mean no offense to anyone.

To make it short: We would all like to be able to install modules via a web interface. This normally requires the module dir to be writeable, though, which will never happen because of huge security issues. Joomla has an ftp layer via which the module files are transfered to the module dir. There is an issue about this in the queue, but no actual work has happened so far.

There are of course, serious security issues with this, but if you like, you can use
module_installer to fetch arbitrary tgz code onto your system or maybe try this one that does CVS checkouts for you
