Admin theme switched to frontend theme when saving module configuration

On the admin side we use the garland theme and for the front end a custom theme.
When I open the page /admin/build/modules the page is displayed with garland theme (which is correct).
Now when I make a change (for example enabling or disabling the forum module), and I save the configuration, the result page is displayed with the custom front end theme.
