How to get variables from node in field.tpl.php

My problem is that i've got fields that have different displays according to the selection of other fields. let's put an example: I've got a date field "date-field" and two boolean, one "hide date" and the other "show hours". I want to be able to have this two fields available in field--date-field.tpl.php, so i can show or hide the fields according to de user desire.

I know that could do that on node.tpl.php or node-[type-of-node].tpl.php where all 3 fields are available but doesn't seem right because all 3 fields are used in multiple node types and with different layouts, that is silly do do al that coding in the node.tpl.php
