Drop Trends Score of Configuration Views Module
Drop Trends Score Popup of Configuration Views Module

This project is not covered by Drupal’s security advisory policy.

DropTrends brings objective, instant health ratings — the DropScore (0–100) — directly inside Drupal.org project pages via a lightweight, privacy-first browser extension.

Choosing Drupal modules today often leads to decision paralysis: stale code, abandoned issue queues, uncertain Drupal 11 and 12 compatibility, and multiple competing solutions for the same problem. DropTrends solves this by analyzing key health signals in real time and displaying an unobtrusive health badge beside the project title, pairing a 0–100 score with modern benchmark ratings (such as Exceptional, Healthy, Stable, or Emerging).

Features

  • Instant Health Pill: An unobtrusive pill injected directly beside the module title showing the overall DropScore (0–100), security shield coverage, and Drupal core compatibility chips (D12, D11, or D10 EOL warnings).
  • Lighthouse-Style Inspection Drawer: Click the badge to slide open a Google Lighthouse-inspired inspection report with interactive category dials, detailed pillar scorecards, and actionable insights.
  • Filterable Actionable Insights: Filter insights by Needs Attention and Passed with concrete recommendations to improve module reliability, bus factor, and CI health.
  • Interactive Release Switcher: Easily toggle between stable and pre-release tags in the header to re-evaluate DropScore, release recency, and core compatibility on the fly.
  • Drupal 12 & 11 Forward Compatibility: Instantly verify current Drupal 11 readiness, forward-looking Drupal 12 compatibility, PHP 8.3+ / 8.5+ baseline support, and Drupal 10 End-of-Life warnings (November 2026).
  • Safety Warnings & Disqualification Banners: Clear, prominent warning banners for modules marked Obsolete, Unsupported, or whose security advisory coverage was revoked.
  • Queue Hygiene & Inbox Zero Recognition: Intelligently scores issue queue health, fully rewarding maintainers who reach Inbox Zero or maintain zero open bugs without penalizing them for 0 pending RTBC patches.
  • Security Advisory Verification: Immediate visibility into Drupal Security Advisory policy coverage (the green shield status) and maintainer team breadth.
  • GitLab CI & Automated Tests: Real-time automated test pipeline status from DrupalCode GitLab (git.drupalcode.org) and automated test presence (PHPUnit Unit, Kernel, Functional).
  • One-Click Composer Copy: Quick-copy the recommended composer require drupal/module_name command straight from the header bar.
  • Standalone Extension Popup: Inspect modules on active tabs or search and jump to any Drupal.org project from anywhere in your browser.
  • Zero Configuration & Privacy-First: Runs 100% client-side. Zero user tracking, zero telemetry, and zero backend latency.

The DropScore Evaluation Matrix (0–100)

DropScore calculates an objective score across five weighted pillars:

Pillar Weight Key Signals Evaluated
🛡️ Security & Trust 25 pts Drupal Security Advisory coverage (shield status: 16 pts), maintainer breadth / bus factor (5 pts), and organizational sponsorship (4 pts). Disqualified with 0 pts if advisory coverage was revoked.
⚡ Maintenance & Velocity 25 pts Maintenance status taxonomy (10 pts), release cadence (8 pts; starts at a quarterly 90-day window), and issue queue hygiene / RTBC momentum (7 pts, with full credit for Inbox Zero).
🚀 Modernity & Compatibility 20 pts Drupal 12 forward-compatibility (12 pts), Drupal 11 core support (up to 18 pts), Drupal 10 compatibility with Nov '26 EOL alerts (6 pts), and PHP 8.3+ / 8.5+ baseline runtime (2 pts).
🧪 Code Quality & CI 15 pts Automated GitLab CI pipeline passing status on DrupalCode (10 pts) and automated test suite coverage (PHPUnit Unit, Kernel, Functional tests: 5 pts).
📈 Adoption & Community 15 pts Reported active site installations (10 pts; calibrated from 1 to 20,000+ sites, with a +2 grace floor for emerging newcomers) and maintainer team size (5 pts).

DropScore Benchmarking Tiers

  • Exceptional (90–100): Stellar ecosystem citizen with green GitLab CI, active release cadence, distributed maintainers, and Drupal 11/12 readiness.
  • Healthy (75–89): Reliable and well-maintained module suitable for production adoption.
  • Stable (60–74): Functional and dependable module; may have single-maintainer bus-factor risk or longer release intervals.
  • Maturing (45–59): Working solution with opportunities to add CI automation, recruit co-maintainers, or resolve issue debt.
  • Needs Attention (0–44): Stale releases, failing CI pipelines, or unaddressed issue queues.
  • Emerging: Grace period policy applied to promising newcomer projects (<90 days old) building an install base.
  • Disqualified (0): Deprecated, Obsolete, Unsupported, or Security-Revoked projects marked with prominent safety warnings.
