The recommended release for Drupal 7 is 7.x-2.71, but I suppose it should be 7.x-2.8?

Yes, I didn't realize .XX were not supported. I'm getting ready for a 3.0, so that will make this moot. I will increment by .X after that. Sorry for the confusion!
