First of all, some words about me. I am a graduated IT Engineer (http://www.ti.bfh.ch/en.html) from Switzerland and have been working some years for in the R&D Departement of Swisscom. Currently I am working for Puma Switzerland and I am building a prototype for a website based on Drupal.
Beside my work I also have some private projects for which I am working with Drupal.
I've currently got two Modules to contribute.
- The first one is called 'solvethread'. The usecase for this module is the following:
A user posts a Problem to the community (this is a node). Users can then write possible answers of the problem as comments.
The node author (or anyone who has the right) can then decide who's answer (multiple possible) is a solution to the problem and mark this comment as solution. A user looking at the node can then jump directly from the description of the problem to the comment solving it with a link. In addition, the comment being the solution is visually highlighted as solution.
- The second module i would like to contribute is 'location_node_link_field'.
This module extends cck with a field and depends on the location module and on the gmap module. Let's say we have a tech site with a collection of electronics shops. Each shop has its node with a location of where the shop is (shop node). On the other side, the site will tell stories about the latest mobile phones and gadgets (product stories). With the location_node_link_field a product story can be linked with one or more shops so a user reading the product story can find a shop (displayed on a google map) having the product. This way a shop node (containing shop name, address, phone, a.s.o.) can be connected with several other nodes, and nodes can link to several shop nodes and have a map displaying all the linked shop nodes as markers on a Google map. If the address or the location of the shop changes, the information only has to be changed once in the shop node and the location on the linked nodes will always be accurate.

As per requirements, the motivation needs to include a comparison with the existing solutions; the motivation should also include few paragraphs of feature descriptions.
We then review a single module/theme per applicant; let us know which module you want reviewed.

Comparison of the solvethread module with existing solutions:
Flag module (only alternative i've found for this use case)
- Allows flagging nodes and/or comments (one could create a flag called 'solution' and flag comments)
- More flexible than solvethread and has views integration (solvethread does not yet have views integration)
Solvethread features:
- Offers marking one or more comments as solution(s) for a problem stated in a node.
- If a node has solutions, an information is displayed on the node that it has been saved and links for jumping down to the solutions are provided.
- The module creates a 'Top Solvers' block for tracking the best problem solvers of a community.

avpadernoAs per previous comment, I am setting this issue as Won't fix.
Since new users can now create full projects, applications have a different purpose and they are handled on a different issue queue. See Apply for permission to opt into security advisory coverage for more information.
