This module allows you to create custom teasers that link to any url, external or internal, and also quickly create views for those teasers.

Why?

"Why can't I just create my own node type with a nodereference field and some views to do the same thing?"

Well, that's a good question… and that may be your best route if you're looking for a highly customized solution. However, here's a short list of some reasons we use the module:

  • The custom teaser can link to any url, internal or external, whereas nodereference only links to nodes.
  • Setting up the views to work the way you need them can be time consuming, and this module does 90% of that work for you.
  • There's a nifty admin interface to manage your teasers, re-order them, edit them.
  • The module is based on the SimpleViews module, which means you have a simple interface to create a view, without having to navigate the Views UI.
  • The module adds a nifty little check box at the bottom of the node form for you to create a custom teaser right after you've submitted your node.
  • Some fancy js is added to the Teaser node form that let's the user know how many characters they have left for title and body before the view will truncate the text.
  • The theme can override all sorts of things about the view, like title length, read more link text, remove fields, re-order fields, which formatter to use, etc.
  • Probably some other things I'm forgetting. ;)
