This project is not covered by Drupal’s security advisory policy.

Cron Observer reliably runs and monitors Drupal cron through the hosted cron.observer service. It replaces traffic-dependent Automated Cron while authenticated remote triggers are healthy and restores the site's previous Automated Cron interval if triggers stop or a plan downgrade pauses the remote monitor.

Features

  • Passwordless email connection to a new or existing cron.observer account.
  • Free, Hobby, and Pro schedules with plan-aware options.
  • Authenticated, signed cron callbacks with replay protection.
  • Recent run status inside Drupal administration.
  • Automatic native Automated Cron fallback.
  • Stripe-hosted upgrades, subscription management, and cancellation.
  • Encrypted local credentials and per-installation revocation.

Post-installation

Visit Configuration > System > Cron Observer and follow the passwordless email connection flow. The module links a new or existing cron.observer account and configures the appropriate schedule for the account plan.

Additional requirements

  • Drupal 10.3 or Drupal 11.
  • PHP with Sodium or OpenSSL.
  • A publicly reachable HTTP or HTTPS Drupal site.
  • The hosted cron.observer service. Free and paid plans are available.

After an administrator chooses to connect, the module sends the administrator-provided email address, public site URL, site name, Drupal version, cron execution metadata, and billing requests to cron.observer. Stripe handles payment details; the module never receives card details.

Similar projects and how they are different

Drupal core Automated Cron runs in response to site traffic. Cron Observer is for sites that want an external scheduler, authenticated callbacks, run history, monitoring, and automatic fallback to Drupal Automated Cron.

Documentation and support

The module is maintained by KOServer. Issues and feature requests should be filed in this project's Drupal.org issue queue.
