I just completed a fresh install today, and it looks like almost everything is working, but when I attempt to add a section, I receive the following error:

EntityMalformedException: Permission to create a node was requested but no node type was given. in entity_metadata_no_hook_node_access() (line 672 of /home/xxxxxxxxx/public_html/sites/all/modules/entity/modules/callbacks.inc).
The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later.

I am pretty sure this is a bug in Field collection.
Could you try installing dev version of Field collection, and see if the error persists?

If not, it could be this issue: #1281974: Missing bundle property on entity - related to translations

Sorry – not Field collection. References dialog. I *think* this is the issue: #1780626: Entity Reference incorrectly calls entity_access()
Comment 6 contains a patch that should do the trick.

If I'm wrong, again, check out simplytest.make in the Courseplanner module, and check that all listed patches have been applied. I clearly remember this bug, and finding the patch to fix it, but I'm not sure which module it was that caused the error.
