This module looks to offer a lot of power and flexibility to Context.

I am trying to use it with Views Global Filter (https://www.drupal.org/project/global_filter) and pass a global views filter to context to set a context - this would let me combine other parameters with the filter to then set block display rules etc (Views Global Filter just passes a filter value to all views with its contextual filter setup.)

Anyone know how I can do this? I guess I'm wondering what variable to use which would come from the Views Global Filter module.

if it kicks a variable out to the variables table then it can be done; I can't speak to how that project works though

I don't believe that GF is a variable based on description so this would not be supported / is out of scope.
