Aside from the distinction between 6.x and 7.x compatibility, is there a difference between these two modules?

The example in the documentation helps to accomplish the same thing as Delta. This is for ANY variable in the variables table though which I'm not sure if Delta does. Most useful way to implement this is with strongarm, for example
- Whenever the site frontpage is overridden by Strongarm and set to 'node', place different blocks on the page instead of if its set to a specific node
- Remove a block that accounts for primary links in a theme being disabled

This is most useful in a OG / Spaces / Strongarm environment though it could also be used in conjunction with flexible install profiles to allow for features to be created for multiple sites within a client network and react slightly differently based on different variables.
