The Content Audit Tool helps teams manage content quality through ROT Analysis, Translation Review, and Migration Review.
This project is based on a custom module presented at DrupalCon Chicago 2026, focused on improving how teams audit and manage website content.
About the Module
Managing large volumes of content can be challenging — especially when ensuring that it remains accurate, consistent, and relevant over time. The Content Audit Tool provides a structured and trackable approach to content auditing, helping teams make informed decisions throughout the content lifecycle.
Instead of relying on spreadsheets or manual processes, this module centralizes content review within Drupal, enabling better collaboration, visibility, and consistency.
It supports three key areas:
- ROT Analysis – Identify and track redundant, outdated, or trivial (ROT) content. This helps teams clean up low-value content and maintain a lean, high-quality website.
- Translation Review – Compare translated content against the original source to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment as content evolves.
- Migration Review – Assist in selecting and validating content for migration into new site builds, ensuring that only relevant and up-to-date content is carried forward.
Common use cases include content cleanup initiatives, multilingual content validation, and pre-migration audits.
Roadmap
This project is actively evolving as we work towards a stable Drupal contrib release. Areas currently being explored include:
- Preparing the module for a full Drupal contrib release
- Expanding translation and migration validation capabilities
- Introducing editorial workflows and improved review processes
These items reflect the current direction of the project and may evolve over time.
