After Contemplate is disabled, uninstalled, module files deleted, and update.php run, the module's settings link is still listed on the Content management section on admin menu. The link to '/admin/content/templates' is still available but just defaults to '/admin/content'. Doesn't remove itself from menu_links table when uninstalled.

Would it be safe to remove single record from menu_links table? Any other DB records that should be deleted or changed?

Thanks!

Have you dumped the cache on your site? It is located under site configuration > performance. Are you using an administration menu system like admin or admin menu? Or are you using just the plain Drupal menu system?

cache is cleared when update.php run. Also manually cleared all caches with Myphpadmin.

No other admin modules.

Are you getting any errors in your Drupal log file? Any errors on your web hosting error log file? Have you tried installing the module again and then removing it again?

Shane,

No errors or problems. Just the dead link in the admin menu ater uninstalling the module.
I manually deleted from menu_links table in database with no problems.

I feel the module uninstall doesn't remove the menu link.

It looks like you solved the issue. I have this module on a few hundred sites and have removed it countless times and haven't run across what you've experienced. I want to get as much detail as possible to see where the issue is. All good.

Hope things are well!

Thanks for your help Shane,

I solved my problem, but I don't think this bug has been solved. You may be correct that it was a isolated incident. Unfortunately I don't have the time right now to try to reproduce. If it happens again I'll try to provide more info.

The Drupal menu system automatically removes menu links when a module is uninstalled. Well,... actually it doesn't remove the menu links, really when the menu is cache is built, all modules are given a chance to put their own links in the menu. The menu links aren't removed until the menu cache is rebuilt, then all menu items are removed from the cache and added again.

If the Content Templates menu item is not just in the menu cache, but is in the menu table of the database, then someone probably modified the link in the menu system, which overrides the menu link for the module by putting the link entry into the menu table of the database. This change could have been as simple as accidentally moving the link in the menu edit page, moving it back, but saving the page because there was something else changed.

When this is done, it is my experience that the menu link items wouldn't be removed automatically.
