Extreme usage of memory while editing a template

I'm getting this error, when I try to edit a previously created template;

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 1073741824 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2191071 bytes) in /home/hecatomb/public_html/sites/all/modules/contemplate/contemplate.module on line 700

Check the memory sizes, I increased the allowed memory size to 1GB but I was still getting the same error. Also the size which was trying to be allocated was also increasing as I change the allowed memory size.
