Whenever an activity item is present in the feed for the "user followed other user" action, the theme breaks. My suspicious is that the rule contains faulty HTML.

Confirmed; the template contains one unclosed div tag:

<div class="activity-log-picture"></div><div class="activity-log-indent"><div class="activity-log-content">[requester:user] [relationship:relationship-name]ed [requestee:user]</div>

No fix committed yet.

This sort of relates to #1256722: Awkward language around "following", unclosed div tag in status messages. I assume this rule is being changed anyway. Did we decide how so, yet?
