Offering to maintain Commerce Direct Debit

I've been working on a project as a freelancer since 2017 that uses this module to collect payment information for direct debits, and I'm currently in the process of rebuilding this project and migrating it onto Drupal 9.

Whilst this project hasn't had a release since 2012 and currently only supports Drupal 7, there's a sandbox module that's linked to in #3005299: Drupal 8 version that is Drupal 9 compatible. I've experienced some issues with it and have been addressing them in #3266864: No payment fields, type error on review step. It seems that this sandbox has maybe been abandoned as there have been no updates to it for some time.

Rather than create a separate Commerce Direct Debit D9 module which could confusion, I'd like to offer to maintain this module, to look to integrate the code from the sandbox into an official D9 release, and then maintain both branches going forward.

This would be beneficial to me in case I need to fix a bug or add some new functionality as part of my client project (such as using an external service to validate account details, which I'm currently doing in custom code) and also means that there's an official D9 release available for the community to use.
