Create an anchor class after clicking to open Colorbox & remove when colorbox has closed

It would be great if there was a way to distinguish whether the current anchor has been clicked in order to open the colorbox with a class on that anchor. The class being removed afterwards would also be beneficial.

Anyone know of a workaround by chance that could make this possible? Thanks in advance for the feature request consideration.
