Hi,

i am try to copy a text with multiple images from MS Word and paste it into the drupal site.

The images get uploaded to the server but are placed into the wrong places. The image size of the image tags is correct, but the image src points to the wrong image.

I tried to replicate your issue using your sample word doc, used IE11, Drupal 8.3, latest plugin. I didn't see any issue (please see the screen shot).
