I'm just posting this for anyone that runs into the same problem.

I have a site I developed locally. When I uploaded it and the database to a live server, CKeditor did not show up. I tried everything, but in the end, simply re-saving the properties page at /admin/settings/ckeditor/edit/Advanced worked. I didn't change any setting, but I think the new database didn't get all the fields populated from the backup that CKeditor needed.

Strange, but it worked.

Pls update to newest version of CKEditor module and library, there was a lot of changes so this problem shouldn't exists now and eveything should work fine.

I just encountered this same problem. It seems that updating to the latest version doesn't fix the problem. Thanks to bendiy for posting the solution. Save me a lot of hassel.
