Anonymous (not verified) commentedyou need to copy the chatroomread.php file from the chatroom module folder into your docroot.
ARZone commentedI'm having the same issue - found this link via google.
chat room doesn't populate chat without refreshing manually or until someone types beneath me
Comment #3
truyenle commentedMe too, Got the same issue. Have to refreshing manually or wait for me to type the next message.
Justinrandell, when you mentioned docroot? is it the root folder of drupal site?
Truyen
Comment #4
truyenle commentedJust now I got it. Please see this http://drupal.org/node/724164 the chatroomread.php should be located at the same folder at index.php.
Thank
Truyen

mstrelan commentedWell there should be an error message in the Status Report, or a big red error message on the chatroom (to administrators) telling them to move the file. Or a message after the module is installed. Or all of the above
Comment #6
rolfmeijer commentedI’d say all of the above. Man, I searched hours for this…
Nice module, I’m absolutley going to use it and I’m very pleased with all the efforts going into this, but this particular issue is quite frustrating.
BTW the demonstration site seems to suffer from this issue as well.

ARZone commentedokay - I've tried this a few different ways and it's still not working- all fresh installs
attempt one:
installed drupal
uploaded chatroom module to 'modules' folder - cut chatroomread.php from modules folder and pasted in root folder.
not working.
attempt two:
(followed readme.txt file literally
1. Download the module from Drupal.org/project/chatroom and save it to your
modules folder.
2. Enable the module at admin/build/modules.
3. Copy chatroomread.php from the chatroom folder to the webroot of your site.
chatroomread.php should sit next to your index.php file.)
uploaded chatroom module to 'modules' folder - COPIED chatroomread.php from modules folder and pasted in root folder. leaving the chatroomread.php in both "modules" and my root folder.
Still no go - chat will not auto populate text = have to constantly refresh or enter new text to see other user's messages
am I missing something?

Anonymous (not verified) commented@ARZone - sounds like you've done all the right things. do you have a url so i can look at your install?

username: tester
password: Tester1
Comment #10
Anonymous (not verified) commented@ARZone - had a look at your site. can you try turning on clean urls? there's a known bug with sites running without clean urls.
Anonymous (not verified) commentedfair enough, i'll update this with the next release. patches welcome.
ARZone commentedThanks for taking a look - appreciate it.
davemybes commentedJust been playing around on the demo site, and it has the problem of not auto-updating. One of my clients just expressed interest in this sort of module, but he might not like the auto-update thing.
ARZone commentedOKAY- I don't know why I didn't find this before - but this actually worked!
http://drupal.org/node/779778
chat is working!
I'm in business!!!
I was beginning to think there was a problem with my webhost (godaddy) but whatever - I'm just happy to have this mystery solved- I've been holding off on developing my site until I found a suitable chatroom program - came so close to buying a 3rd party embedded
LOL

Desi Raaj commentedi have the same problem chatroom won't update unless the page is refreshed, i get the following error:-
[13-Jun-2010 14:20:05] PHP Warning: require_once(./sites/all/modules/chatroom/chatroom.cache.apc.inc) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/****/public_html/chatroomread.php on line 77
[13-Jun-2010 14:20:05] PHP Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required './sites/all/modules/chatroom/chatroom.cache.apc.inc' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/****/public_html/chatroomread.php on line 77
Desi Raaj commentedARZone what exactly did you do to make this work?
whiteonline commentedYou are apparently not using sites/all/modules as a location for the chatroom module, therefore the configuration in chatroomread.php is pointing to the "wrong" directory for the chatroom cache.
You can either disable and move your chatroom module to sites/all/modules directory or update chatroomread.php line 75:
From:
$chatroom_module_dir = variable_get('chatroom_module_dir', 'sites/all/modules/chatroom');
To:
$chatroom_module_dir = variable_get('chatroom_module_dir', 'modules/chatroom');
Though modifying the chatroomread.php *may* break future upgrades.
Anonymous (not verified) commentedthe right way to do this is to add the path to your site configuration via $conf['chatroom_module_dir'] in settings php.
