There currently is no rules integration. However, given the sad state of the notifications module for 7.x, using rules for notifications moving forward is one possibility. Were you looking for any specific rules integration that isn't available already from CCK and node rules?

Nothing specific yet, I am currently using basic Signup module, and I found short time before Signup rules module, which can be useful (I didn't try it yet)
The sense of this I can found in special messages and events what I need, e.g. after user signup, when the event will be 1 day before, or 6 hours till event starts, or when event is closed, or limit of users is full... etc.
Rules are really powerful, so imho it could be good addon for signup or cck signup module.
