That's terrible advice. :( Why don't you start providing some official releases so that a) your users know what they're getting and b) you know exactly what code they're running when they report bugs and support requests?

When I saw the title of this module, I was interested it using it on a site I'm building. Some of the other things listed in the description sound very nice, such as diff.module integration, etc. But the lack of official releases means I'm much less enthusiastic about running this code and contributing to its development. I'm sure many other users feel the same way.

Please consider adopting a responsible practice of at least making some official releases when appropriate. Ideally, you'd also move towards a feature freeze on the 5.x-1.* series, maintain the DRUPAL-5 branch only for bug fixes, and work on new functionality in HEAD (which would be the 5.x-2.* series). If you did this, I know your users would be happier, and I'd personally be more willing to use this module and start creating and testing patches where needed.

I suppose I wouldn't know since of the 10 projects I run, you're the first to say anything. Admittedly, this project is a bit behind the curve and should have received a nice, shiny, new official release some time ago. I just plain forgot. I think most, if not all, of my other projects are at least above a 1.0 release, and are fairly recent. What I usually do is use dev for immediate bug fixes, let people try them out, then commit an official release. Clearly, that didn't happen here.

Advice noted. Expect an official release soon, though there won't be any difference between current dev. I don't upload wishy-washy code to dev; at least, not on purpose. I don't view my dev releases as alphas or betas - unlike other projects. I suppose that might be different if I needed to collaborate with others. But at this point, that isn't happening.
