Help with forum posts not posting

I installed the Category Module and everything is fine and I can make a forum container but when I try to post to a topic it doesnt show up in the forum under that category nor in the forum at all. the only place the post shows up is in my content. Also, I cannot find how to add a submission page to one of my containers. for instance, I have recipes as the container and then under that I want to add "submit recipe" page so they can submit a recipe to a category. I have made category pages but how do I make the page for them to fill out? thanks for any help.
