Can't seem to get any kml's (from upload or url) to show in map

It may be that I'm just not understanding something, but I cannot get any of my kml layers to show up on my Cartaro map. Among others, I have a kml file of administrative boundaries where the WMS version works fine but the kml doesn't appear on the map. Are there limitations for the type of shape that can be shown? - these are polygons, where your simple text example is just a point. Other than that I have no clue what else might be the problem.

I would really appreciate any help in understanding what I'm doing wrong, as this is an important part of what I'm trying to do. I'm also checking in OL module issues....
