Hi.
I just have quick question about setup. I am using AuthCache and CahceRouter, an everything seems to be working great. Caching is much faster than it used to be. My question is with the settings. being new to caching, I was wondering what the difference is between choosing apc, memcache, xcache, or whatever other options for the engine. I had apc, and then changed to memcache on settings.php, and everythigns works. I was just wondering if I need to install a memcache module or download anything else, or if me picking memcache in settings.php is all I need to do...
Also, I dont see any admin options, is this normal?
Thanks.

Exploratus commentedAnybody? Also wondering if CacheRouter should be saving files somewhere on the server? I can't seem to find anywhere where it is storing the cached files on the hard drive..
Thanks

AgaPe commentedHi,
no, CacheRouter uses memcache which does not store anything, it works in RAM. I am also quite new to the subject but read http://coldfrontlabs.ca/blog/making-drupal-fly-apc-memcache-and-squid which says that apc and memcache work on diferent levels so you could use both, as far as i understand.

Exploratus commentedThanks. Very useful. I installed both memcache and apc on my server, i was wondering how I can use both at the same time as it says in the article... What do i put in setting.php?
I currently have:
/** * Cache Router and AuthCache */
$conf['cache_inc'] = './sites/all/modules/authcache/authcache.inc';
$conf['cacherouter'] = array(
'default' => array(
'engine' => 'memcache', // apc, memcache, db, file, eacc or xcache
'server' => array('localhost:11211'), // memcached (host:port, e.g., 'localhost:11211')
'shared' => TRUE, // memcached shared single process
'prefix' => '', // cache key prefix (for multiple sites)
'path' => 'sites/default/files/filecache', // file engine cache location
'static' => FALSE, // static array cache (advanced)
),
);

igorik commentedsubscribe, interesting too how to set 2 caching engines (apc & memcche) in cacherouter settings
Comment #6
andypostAs example #789608: memcache extra servers not detected/not working
Each bin has separate settings - 'server' key should be 'servers', 'engine' key defines an engine to use
Comment #7
Exploratus commentedThat link seems rather confusing.... Can somebody that knows paste what would go in settings.php to use apc and memcache. The link doesnt really show that...
Comment #8
AgaPe commentedI think for APC you don't have to configure anything, and try giveing
'servers' => array('localhost:11211'),
instead of
'server' => array('localhost:11211'),
We have just installed memcache and APC(or sth similar, i am not sure) and APC makes a big difference!
