This module works great except when I used "Anonymous posters may leave their contact information" under comment settings. The module still require you to fill in the email address even if it is not required. Also even if you enter a value in the email field, botcha still can't submit the comment.

For the meantime I selected the value "Anonymous posters may not enter their contact information".

I hope you can fix it in the next version.

Thank you

Thank you for feedback and for reporting a bug.

Also even if you enter a value in the email field, botcha still can't submit the comment.

Please extend your report with additional information as follows:

  • What message do you see when submission is blocked?
  • Do you see anything produced by BOTCHA in your log at admin/reports/dblog?
  • Did I understand right: if you disable "Anonymous posters may leave their contact information" (ie have it set to "Anonymous posters may not enter their contact information"), then submission is successful?

>>What message do you see when submission is blocked?

You must be a human, not a spam bot, to submit forms on this website.
If you insist that you are a human, please try again.
If error persists, contact webmaster using contact link at the bottom of this page and give all the details of this error (your browser, version, OS.

This is all the log I can see: comment-form post blocked by BOTCHA: submission looks like from a spambot.

Yes, exactly.

Thank you. One more question: please, click on the item in the log and copy-paste here the row with something like this: "Failed 3 of 4 recipes [honeypot, honeypot2, timegate] from "default" recipe book." It helps to understand what recipe exactly is broken. To make this issue less critical to you, you could just disable one concrete recipe (I guess in your case it is 'obscure_url', but it could be any else) - BOTCHA will continue to protect your site while I am fixing the recipe.

Hi,

I don't know where to find the log as there are so many logs recorded.

I think you can test it yourself by selecting the "Anonymous posters may leave their contact information" under comment settings. One more thing, as I remembed I also tested the "Anonymous posters must leave their contact information" and it does not also work.

I mean log at admin/reports/dblog as in the previous post.

Thank you, I will look into it.

I can't go back to where the log is recorded. And I don't know which one is valid log for the comment I submitted.

Please use the latest version: if you prefer stable releases - 7.x-2.0 or later else - just use 7.x-2.x.
If the problem remains - reopen the issue.
For now I can not reproduce it.

I have already uninstalled botcha. It does not work most of the time.

Works great here. I had both BOTCHA and Spamicide enabled for a while, but finally disabled the latter (a good module, too, but BOTCHA seems to be more flexible, and blocks 100% of spambots trying to register and/or post on my sites).

May be because you did not notice this error:

See http://drupal.org/node/1867398#comment-6905876: I got the same error, and got rid of it by disabling ObscureUrl for comment forms. This has been the only problem with BOTCHA so far, and it was easy to resolve it.

I tried enabling botcha module again and I still get this error:

You must be a human, not a spam bot, to submit forms on this website. If you insist that you are a human, please try again. If error persists, contact webmaster using contact link at the bottom of this page and give all the details of this error (your browser, version, OS).
Form session reuse detected. An old form was submitted again, which may happen if it was retrieved from browser history using "Back" button.
Please try again - fill all entries on this page without going "Back".

try to send anonymous comment multiple times and you'll see what i mean...

@jaypabs
Have you updated BOTCHA to version 2?
If so, have you disabled the ObscureUrl recipe for your forms?
If you have, then have you also cleared your browser cache?

I have now submitted three anonymous comments to one of my blog entries within something like one minute. BOTCHA is enabled for that comment form, with all recipes xcept for ObscureUrl, and all comments came through and were submitted for my moderation.

jaypabs’s picture

Yes, I am using the latest version and I have already disabled the ObscureUrl. I have also cleared my browser's cache with no effect.

Try to comment up to 5 times without closing your browser...

Recently I started having this exact issue. I thought it was the Boost module that I had recently installed, so I uninstalled it, still happened, then I pinpointed it to be with the FireFox and IE browsers and not Chrome.
Today I disabled ObscureUrl and so far it's working fine with all browsers but a lot of spam are passing through!!
...don't we need the ObscureUrl recipe anyways???

I will let you know if I get the error again.

am using Drupal 6.28 and BOTCHA 6.x-3.0+9-dev

I have this problem too.

Clemens’s picture

Same problem here on one of my Botch enabled web sites.
1. Added comment as anon user.
Botcha log: comment_node_blog_form post blocked by BOTCHA: submission looks like from a spambot. Failed 1 of 5 recipes [obscure_url] from "default" recipe book.

1. Unticked obscure URL test in botcha recipe.
Botcha log: comment_node_blog_form post approved by BOTCHA. Checked 4 botchas (honeypot, honeypot2, no_resubmit, timegate).

2. Causes comment to CYCLE from preview to preview to preview.
3. disabled Botcha
4. comment was accepted after another preview.

Haven't seen comments for some time on this site. Now I know why. :=(
