Have you considered adding an option to display the audio list as a sortable table? Perhaps you could sort by Artist, Title, Track Number, etc.

the audio module provides support for the views module. you can create your own table views.

As an alternative to rolling your own view, the playlist module will probably have some sort of searchable, sortable table built in (it's needed for searching audio files to add to a playlist/album/podcast.)
