APEX Studio

APEX Studio is a neutral, general-purpose subtheme for agencies, small businesses, service organizations, and sites that need the APEX design system without a strongly vertical visual identity.

Its warm-neutral foundation, blue accent, generous spacing, and five Single Directory Components support a familiar hero–features–call-to-action experience while preserving the 28-region structure and module-powered controls of APEX Theme.

A flexible starting point for branded sites

Choose APEX Studio when a project needs a polished baseline that can adapt to many business types. The theme uses Inter-oriented sans-serif stacks for display and body text, comfortable line spacing, logical properties for left-to-right and right-to-left layouts, and a configurable light color-scheme mode.

The source declares font stacks but does not bundle those webfonts. A site may use the system fallbacks or load approved font files separately after reviewing licensing, privacy, caching, and performance requirements.

Five Studio components

The theme ships five Drupal Single Directory Components with typed props and, where needed, slots:

• Hero: a split image-and-copy presentation with an eyebrow, headline, optional body, two calls to action, alternative text, and reversible layout.
• Feature trio: a responsive one-to-three-item feature grid with optional icons, links, section heading, eyebrow, and rich-text introduction.
• CTA strip: a full-width call-to-action band with primary and secondary destinations plus accent, neutral, and contrast variants.
• Testimonial pull: one attributed quotation with optional portrait, organization, logo, role, and rating.
• Site header: a composition surface for branding, primary and utility navigation, search trigger, and an optional call to action, with optional sticky positioning.

What the current package installs

APEX Studio declares all 28 APEX Theme regions and inherits the parent theme's templates, modules, settings, design tokens, color tools, layouts, navigation, overlays, and accessibility mechanics. Its two page templates add Studio-specific classes and then delegate the full page composition to the parent, reducing structural drift.

Eight optional block configurations place site branding, primary navigation, messages, page title, breadcrumbs, main content, footer navigation, and copyright. The five Studio components are not automatically placed, and the source does not currently include the README's planned service, profile, or long-form landing templates or demo-content pack.

Build the intended homepage by placing and feeding the appropriate components through blocks, templates, render arrays, Layout Builder, Paragraphs, or another site-owned integration. The theme provides presentation; it does not create content types, fields, editorial workflows, or page copy.

Brand customization

Three global stylesheets define Studio variables, typography, and element baselines. Normal unlayered subtheme rules take priority over normal layered APEX rules. Use that behavior for deliberate brand assertions; place lower-priority defaults in the documented APEX cascade layers when administrators should remain able to override them.

1. Replace the logo, favicon, type stacks, and palette with the approved brand system.
2. Map real content and media fields to component props and slots.
3. Place only the regions and components required by the information architecture.
4. Review mobile order, image crops, navigation behavior, and calls to action.
5. Export theme, block, layout, and scheme configuration.

Accessibility, performance, and SEO responsibilities

The styles include reduced-motion, contrast, forced-colors, and print accommodations, and component schemas include fields for meaningful image alternatives. These are useful foundations, not automatic accessibility conformance. Test the finished site with real content, keyboard navigation, assistive technology, zoom, reflow, and the active color scheme.

The theme does not guarantee search rankings or performance scores. Site teams remain responsible for semantic headings, useful original copy, descriptive links, metadata, structured data, canonical URLs, image dimensions and alternatives, internal navigation, caching, and measured page performance.

Use the Drupal.org issue queue for reproducible defects. Include the active APEX versions, Drupal and PHP versions, affected component, supplied props, block placement, browser, breakpoint, and steps to reproduce.
