APEX Associations

APEX Associations is a member-organization subtheme for professional associations, trade groups, unions, chapters, alumni networks, and credentialing organizations using APEX.

It combines contemporary institutional typography, burgundy-and-gold tokens, denser resource presentation, and five Single Directory Components for membership, resources, chapters, newsletters, and professional credentials.

Public site and member-portal presentation

The theme uses a Lora-oriented display stack, Inter-oriented body stack, and a 65-character reading measure. It inherits the 28-region APEX Theme composition while adding Associations-specific identity classes and member-resource tokens.

Font stacks are declared but no font files are bundled. Provide approved licensed assets or use browser-available fallbacks.

Five Associations components

• Membership CTA: up to four membership tiers with dues, benefits, recommended and renewal-only states, plus join and renewal destinations.
• Resource card: member-resource title, linked topic, format, description, publication date, members-only indicator, duration, and singular or plural continuing-education credit value.
• Chapter strip: active chapter, chapter-index destination, and an optional member home-chapter hint.
• Newsletter archive: chronological issues with issue number, date, up to four topics, summary, featured state, and subscription destination.
• Credential badge: pill or card presentation with linked credential and issuer, holder, earned and expiration dates, fixed-size lazy badge image, and card-mode verification destination.

Container-responsive membership tiers move through one-, two-, and four-column layouts, while credentials support compact and full-card presentations. Visible focus, reduced-motion, high-contrast, forced-color, and print adaptations are included, and multi-column content linearizes for print.

These components do not create memberships, collect dues, authenticate members, enforce resource access, award education credits, detect chapters, send newsletters, issue credentials, or verify badges. A “members only” label is not an access-control mechanism.

Current installation scope

The package contains three base stylesheets, two page wrappers, a settings override, five SDCs, eight standard optional block placements, and all 28 APEX regions. The wrappers add Associations identity classes and delegate composition to the parent.

The planned resource-library, event, and newsletter-index templates and demo content do not ship. The front-page wrapper describes a member-news portal concept but does not place components or integrate membership, credential, chapter, mailing, or commerce systems.

Member-organization implementation guidance

1. Connect membership tiers, dues, renewal status, and access rules to one authoritative membership system.
2. Enforce resource permissions server-side and test caches for authenticated and anonymous users.
3. Define chapter selection rules, URL ownership, and member privacy before using profile-derived hints.
4. Connect newsletter archives and subscriptions to a consent-aware mailing workflow.
5. Provide an authoritative issuer, status, expiration policy, and verification endpoint for credentials.
6. Configure aliases, canonical URLs, redirects, metadata, sitemaps, internal navigation, and suitable structured data separately.

Accessibility, privacy, and SEO

The styles include reduced-motion, contrast, forced-colors, and print accommodations. Test the full member journey for keyboard access, focus, forms, errors, tables, headings, link purpose, badge alternatives, zoom, reflow, readable language, and assistive-technology output.

Search visibility depends on useful public resources, accurate organization and chapter information, stable aliases, descriptive titles and links, canonicalization, metadata, internal navigation, valid structured data, and measured performance. Protect private member content from output, caches, indexes, sitemaps, feeds, previews, and analytics.

Support and maintainer

Report reproducible issues through Drupal.org with the component, props, anonymous or member state, active APEX versions, Drupal/PHP versions, browser, breakpoint, and steps. Remove personal and credential data.
