Managing the nodes to present is easily done using the pre-defined view. Go to Site Building -> Views -> ajax_slideshow_view -> Edit
Set the filter section there whichever way you want to present only the nodes you are interested with.
Simple and easy.

Ajax-Slideshow doesn't work at all. I added to my Sites/all/modes folder and turned it on.

The readme file tells me to where to look for the slideshow but the page can't be found.

The Views panel looks nothing like what you describe above.

You go into an issue which is not relevant and was already closed, change the title of it to less informative title, provide vague description of your problem and probably expect to get help...

1. Use this issue thread only if you think that it relates somehow to your problem (which seemingly its not). If you bumped into an issue nobody referred to yet - open a new issue.
2. Make titles more informative - not less ("Doesn't work" is remotely informative for other community members).
3. If you really think that its the same issue - re-open it.

Please note that the above issue relates to version 6.x-1.2 while the currently recommended version is 6.x-3.0.

The documentation included and available for this module is not very helpful and certainly not simple and easy. I have searched high and low for a step by step guide it is a needle in a haystack. More comprehensive guide would be appreciated.

Hi I did and unfortunately although the general premise seems fairly simple the slideshow is working which is more than I can say for any of the other popular modules. I am new to drupal but not to html and jquery slideshows. I just need to know without using views how to identify which nodes the slideshow will show. Basically I need a step by step guide

Views is too complicated and I am not there yet

I have spent days trying to get any solution to work. I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

Unfortunately Ajax Slideshow relies heavily on views. Thus configuring the slideshow without editing the view is fairly limited. I see 2 options:
1. To control which nodes you see is a very simple and straight forward change in the ajax slideshow view - just go into the view editing mode and change the node_type filter (to any node type you'd like).
2. Do not use the ajax slideshow module and look for another module which is not using views for the nodes query on the slideshow comparison page.

Thanks again for your reply I have changed the node filter as I saw an earlier post regarding this but again it actually does not work I selected node type image and it is still showing whatever node is published. And I added the node type filter but how do I just simply limit it to a small group of image nodes? I am sorry I just feel this should be fairly straight forward in the future releases for newcomers to leverage the power of ajax slideshows it does seem to be the best tech that is why I would like to use it.

Update: I have now gotten a bit of a better understanding of the situation and did get the select content type to work. I am having an issue with not understanding how to remove the title from the image field and a positioning issue have checked all I can see and not sure why all this padding around it? www.thriftyandgreen.com if you would like to offer any advice it would be appreciated very much. I will experiment tomorrow but overall appreciate this and your responses. Thanks!

I really still need help getting this to work. It has been rough. I do like this solution I would very very much appreciate a bit of hand holding on this to get me going I have put in tons of time to get it to work I wont even go into it but mainly now i have set up a content type filtered the slideshow to only show that and for some reason it will only include links to images rather than the image. thanks

I just want to say. Really the documentation and available tutorials on this are just pathetic. There is nothing easy about set up at all what so ever. To make it look like anything presentable that is. Days spent looking at the simplest thing. Not at all able to manipulate and even get rid of simple titles and submitted by. And if this is a drupal issue then it is as pathetically documented as well. Which after a week of 12 hrs a day I would say that is indeed the case. No searchable help index version 6? super.

Your issues originate from poor basic Drupal knowledge. I tend to agree that Drupal is not an easy foundation to learn but it's a worthwhile investment. You do have tons of tutorials but it does require some time to get up to speed.
Honestly you'll find it very hard to get help from the community with a behavior as demonstrated above, so my (friendly) advise to you is to be a bit less criticizing and a bit more tolerant showing good manners.

hey I would love this to work but sadly it is extremely hard to impliment and does not offer any sort of step by step tutorial. I have learned many software products in my day and at this point I am comfortable with drupal but not with the documentation if this module. Views is better documented but not using this technology. Fancy Slide easy peazy but is not supported. So this particular issue. A slideshow that is easy to set up as it would be in html is lacking. And if I were you I would put a little more time into tutorials on this and a lot more people would be able to use it. Sorry to be gruff but your read me file is so vague it is just aggravating. I had to remove the node title from my node.tpl.php file in order to get the slideshow to not show the title. A user friendly way of doing this would be great. As now I have no title on any other nodes. I will work around that but a worthy suggestion for sure. But now how can I get the images to link to a page node? Any thoughts. I am aware I can use CSS with the Ajax Slideshow to achieve this but my first attempt at this was not successful so I went back to drupal to see if I could find anything. Nothing I can see in Views or Content Type so I am at a loss. thanks

Hi ... i am very willing to help better this module I think it is the best one out there which is clearly needed... but it needs some improvement to be more user friendly and a bit more elegant of a presentation. Which does not seem possible the way the module is. If a panel overlay or some way to elegantly present a title was added it would make a huge improvement. As it is views does not let you take out the default node title ... and I cannot even understand how to get a Views slideshow (AS Views that is) to work ... any help would be appreciated

See #11 - this module does not intend to cover up for poor basic Drupal shortcoming. If one does not know how to fundamentally use Views (UI) there is no point in trying to use this module.
In other words basic Views knowledge is a pre-requisite to use this module
There are other slideshows out there which do not require that.

This was the best and it did require a lot of doing and work arounds. But i am using it and happy with it. It is just not really up to snuff. I am also getting over my curve with drupal which is not that hard but does come so stripped down 6 anyway that is was just crazy in my opinion. Thanks for the module.
