Readme.txt says there're two modes of operation: node based and views based. But what's about panels? Can I create a panel page and incorporate it into a slideshow?

I guess that anything which can be queried by the slideshow item view can use the node based mode (at least). This means including a panel page. However I did not try that thus can not tell it for sure.
