I followed the recommendation for choosing Slate in the admin theme -- http://drupal.org/node/532506 That's not helping.

The header/menu shows up nicely but doesn't theme the entire admin area. In case there was an issue with the migration, I turned off the module, deleted, and redownloaded it via the plugin manager.

Any ideas or help troubleshooting this would be most appreciated! I'm pretty new to Drupal and while I don't think this is a newbie deal -- it very well could be.

It's fixed now -- no confirmed reason why it's back but it is.

I did change a few directory permissions to ensure things on the entire drupal install were secure and next thing I knew, I logged in and the entire theme was back. Doesn't make sense to me that the permissions were the reason ... but thought I'd post all I know in case it helps someone else.
