Right now the activeselect feature is working only for Categories and Containers.
It is darn cool, and is exactly what I have been hoping for. Now I can see a fantastic use
for this so what nodes that have more than one category that are related could use it.

Example:

Country
--Canada
--United States

Province
--British Columbia
--Alberta
--Ontario

States
--Washington
--Texas
--Alabama

The relation is obvious, not sure exactly how to do it with Categories yet. Do you have any tips on
how to make the relation such that Selecting Canada from the Country DD shows a list of Provinces,
or States when you select United States? I am interested in making a module that uses form_alter
to do this for all nodes that have related terms asssigned to them.

If I am missing something that has already been done, please let me know. I have not found anything
yet, your activeselect module with Cateogries is the first time I have seen anything close. Glad to
help if possible.

Thanks,
Gord.

Thanks for your ideas, Gord - I've been thinking very similar things to you! You'll be pleased to hear that I plan to develop what you've described here. I also think it would be great if you selected, say, a state to assign to a node, and then the 'cities' list updated to show only the cities in that state.

The first step that I've made in this direction has been the recent controlled distant parent selection feature. With this feature, you can now (for example) set up a 'cities' container such that any categories within it must have a category from the 'states' container as their parent. This puts the underlying data structure in place - now all that's needed is to AJAXify the front-end!

Keep your eyes peeled for new developments in this area. And thanks for your offer of help. ;-)

That is fabulous news!

I had figured that you were on that track already, great to see there is some progress already.
I was thinking that a form_alter in the active select module could rewrite taxonomy attributes
to have the activeselect fields required, so that theoretically, existing node types with categories
assigned could benefit right away?

How are you envisioning the AJAXIFICATION?

Cheers,
Gord.
