Absolutely amazing, @wombatbuddy is working on a fully functioning recurring membership that works with Stripe. It works exceptionally well, easy to implement, cleanly updates user roles for subscriptions.

Based on https://www.drupal.org/project/stripe_registration, it is now a full-fledged membership module.
