I referenced your "tiny braindead module" in Field types should be defined by one module and implemented by a separate module.

It would be nice if your module could provide a way to delete the orphaned data, possibly with an "Are you sure?" warning.

If it could delete these fields, then field API could do it, too. The whole point of this module is to be an argument for fixing the lack of design around what to do with field data.

However it could do the unthinkable and just destroy stuff. It would have to have an 'are you sure?' and an 'are you really sure?' and an 'are you really really sure?'
