It would be cool to have a possibility to change the displayed messages like "Stay informed on our latest news!" and "User" in the backend. Also the naming of the buttons.

Hi,
When configuring the block, you can change the displayed message "Stay informed on our latest news!".

Regarding the "User" part, that should change when we release the stable 7.x version (we're currently working on the release of the 6.x-2.x version, with lots of bug fixing, and will move on to the 7.x version when the 6.x is stable.

I suggest to apply the same patch we used on 6.x-2.x (so far, nobody complains) to remove the User: username field (issue #747228: Add option to remove 'User: Username' from block).

Here is the patch for 7.x-1.x, I'm fine with committing it, just waiting for the opinion of Miro, Sutharsan, or a sufficient number of users.

There is no "User" anymore, you may change the other text in the block interface. I consider this issue fixed. Please reopen if you disagree.
