Just wondering what your plans are for the distribution? I asked this on twitter but maybe the issue queue is a better place to do things.
philbar is currently working on drupal for churches, he's ended up focusing on getting install profiles on drupal.org better.
I'm starting something called tribes with 2 other people aiming at bringing some social and administration features to the church.
What are your thoughts?

I am going to want to use the leading drupal technology including having a drush make file, features, a light install profile, 960gs/fusion/skinr theme, and a feature server.
The features I'm starting out with are very basic and who knows it might stay that way, I don't want to bake too much stuff in, bc part of the idea is to have something that's flexible. I am trying to keep make the features not too inter-dependent bc I like the idea of having a customizable download where you would select the features you want.
That's it in a nutshell.

yautja_cetanu CreditAttribution: yautja_cetanu commentedCurrently me and a friend are doing research projects for our degree regarding churches and websites. My friend is aiming at building social network tools to connect mission partners more effectively with a church congregation and I'm investigating the impact of social media on people over 65 in the church by conducting an interview centred around online praying and a dynamic prayer wall.
Would it be ok if we used and modified some of #openchurch's stuff? I really like this theme as a base theme for churches so was thinking it might be cool to use it for my prototype in my research.

Re: your point on drupal for churches, I've already talked to the maintainer and he might merge his project with OpenChurch because he hasn't had time to fully develop it. Let me know if you'd like to collaborate, thx! -J
