Single line cck date field

The cck date field for 5.x used to be a single line field.
Is there any support for this in the 6.x version or is it always 2 fields [date, time].

I would be nice to have an option when creating a cck date field which lets you choose the output format if one wants to use a single line field or 2 fields format.
