Repeatable: Always

Steps to repeat:
1. Download CCK and emfield and install CCK, Embedded Media Field, Embedded Media Thumbnail and Embedded Video Field
2. Download and install any provider (eg. "Media: YouTube")
3. Download i18n and install Internationalization and Synchronize translations
4. Add an emfield field to a content type (eg. "Page") and configure it with "Store remote thumbnails for this field" to NO and "Allow custom thumbnails for this field" to YES
5. Select a display showing the thumb (eg. "Image Thumbnail")
6. Go to admin/settings/language and add a new language (eg. "Italian")
7. Go to admin/settings/language/configure and select a language negotation mode (eg. "Path prefix only.")
8. Configure "Workflow settings > Multilanguage support" to "Enabled, with translation" for the content type with the emfield field (eg. admin/content/node-type/page).
9. Check a standard node fields (eg. status) in "Multilanguage options > Synchronize translations" for this content type.
10. Create a node (eg. "page") in default language (eg. "English"), insert a video URL add a custom thumb.
11. Create a translation of this node and another URL and custom thumb.

Expected Results:
The original node shows the custom thumb.

Actual Results:
The original node has lost the custom thumb (with youtube as provider the node shows the remote thumb).

Hello--

We're experiencing this problem as well... Did you or anyhow else get further on this issue? Oddly, I seem to get this behavior even with synchronization turned off for the specific field (an emvideo field). The actual video is then no longer synchronized, but the preview images seem to throw eachother out... If I upload a preview image to the original node, the translated node loses its preview image and the same thing happens if it's done the other way around.
