The maintainer, Darren Ferguson, has done a great job writing xmppframework. Unfortunately, there are some very important bugs in xmppframework that must be fixed, but he has not replied at all in a very long time.
I think it's only fair that new comers understand the real state of this project.
Some people have created a new module called DXMPP. If you're new to xmppframework, I would recommend you consider DXMPP.
If you're using xmppframework already, chances are you've been facing some serious bugs and don't know how to fix them. Take a look at #756972.
I'm considering forking this module just to include the critical patches required to make the module actually work.
